The incidence of overweight and obesity in children and young people in Australia has increased dramatically in recent years, with 1 in 4 children overweight or obese.
A child’s future is put at severe risk when exposed to a poor diet and eating habits. As an adult they are more likely to be at risk of lifestyle diseases such as obesity, dental disease, Type 2 Diabetes, hypertension and eating disorders and body image issues, not to mention the cost to the Australian economy of a workforce and community riven with poor health and nutrition.
To ensure that our meals don't just taste good but are super healthy, STREAT is working to have all of its meals accredited by Nutrition Australia.
Kids into the kitchen
We figure getting kids into the kitchen early is part of the solution. And why should big kids have all the fun?
Sticking with the Thai street food theme for our first season's menu we've attached our first kid's recipe for tropical kebabs. Ploi and Somchai have spent years eating street food in Bangkok and will teach you how to make their tropical kebab skewers.
