After finishing her Bachelor in Tourism, Lola and her partner embarked in an adventure that started seven years ago looking for new experiences around the world that gave them the chance to meet new people and their different ways of life. It was while travelling that she realised that while many people live in pretty fair societies others are not so lucky, and she decided she wanted to do something, even if it was something small to help.
Lola found out about STREAT this year and felt an instant connection with its cause. She is very excited about being part of the team and to play her part as STREAT’s Office Manager.
What’s the worst thing you’ve ever eaten?
It would be anything I cooked when I first moved out of my parent’s house. Everything seemed to be burned on the outside and raw on the inside. I was an awful cook!!!
What’s your favourite thing to cook?
Probably, any Argentinean or Italian dish. During winter time I love making CHIPAS which is a traditional dish (sort of cheese bread) from Argentina & Paraguay.
Where is your favourite place to eat (in the world)?
I have to say at home, with my whole family sitting together around a big table, sharing stories for hours.
Where is home to you?
I’m a bit in two minds on this one. Misiones (Argentina) will always be my home because that’s where I was born and raised and most of my loved ones are there. But then every place I’ve lived with my partner in the past few years represents home for us as well.
Why do you care about youth homelessness?
I care about youth homelessness because I think that no one wants to be homeless and that as a society we all have the same rights and therefore should have the same opportunities. If someone is having a hard time out there, we shouldn’t look away. We should all be willing to roll up our sleeves and help our youth transform their lives and build with them a better future.
